Back in October Microsoft outlined plans to "make it easier" to update to Windows 10. It said it would begin by pushing it as an "optional" update, but would soon recategorise it as a "recommended" update. That time has now come.
This means that some users with automatic updates enabled may see the Windows 10 upgrade process starting itself on their PCs. However, while that process may well commence, the upgrade won't actually complete without confirmation from the user to proceed.
As Microsoft stated in their October blog post "you will have 31 days to roll back to your previous Windows version if you don’t love it."
Until July, users on Windows 7 and windows 8.1 have the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. We recommend you check your computer specs and driver/software compatibility against the Windows 10 requirements before upgrading as it may cause performance and compatibility issues.
